Overview

A custom learning management and content platform for technical education. Work began by completing and stabilizing an inherited PHP and CodeIgniter system, then introducing Laravel and Vue.js to modernize the architecture while expanding learner, instructor, content-management, assessment, and administrative capabilities.

My Contribution

  • Took ownership of a partially completed PHP and CodeIgniter learning management system and drove it through production readiness
  • Stabilized and optimized legacy workflows before introducing Laravel and Vue.js for newer platform capabilities
  • Built learner, instructor, content-management, assessment, and administrative functionality across the full stack
  • Designed REST APIs that delivered learning content through JSON and XML-based integrations
  • Integrated the custom platform with Moodle, Blackboard, and external learning systems
  • Worked across frontend development, backend services, database design, deployment, analytics, and production support

Technical Architecture

The system evolved from a legacy PHP and CodeIgniter application into a more modular platform using Laravel for backend services and Vue.js for interactive interfaces. MySQL stored learning, user, assessment, and content data, while REST APIs exposed content and platform operations to external learning systems.

Engineering Challenges

  • Completing an inherited and partially implemented legacy platform
  • Improving maintainability without disrupting existing users
  • Introducing Laravel and Vue.js incrementally
  • Supporting learner, instructor, and administrative workflows
  • Integrating with external LMS platforms
  • Maintaining content and data compatibility during modernization

Additional Work

  • Cross-platform desktop applications using Electron, Node.js, Vue.js, Laravel, Bootstrap, and OAuth 2.0
  • Git-based automatic deployment utility using Lumen, Vue.js, and MySQL
  • Nuxt.js and Buefy personal/marketing site
  • Lightweight quiz and learning prototypes
  • Video upload and validation tooling

Reliability and Confidentiality

EdTech platforms handle learner and instructional content, so this portfolio stays intentionally general. It omits customer names, course content, proprietary textbook material, internal URLs, unsupported learning-outcome metrics, and confidential visuals.

Technologies

  • PHP, CodeIgniter, Laravel, Vue.js, JavaScript, MySQL, REST APIs
  • HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, Ajax, JSON, XML, Apache, Analytics
